Carmen Oprea

Carmen is the main organizer and the host of this conference.
She is a registered art therapist with post-graduate training in sandplay therapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy. Holding three master's degrees in art therapy, fine arts, and design, she is currently a doctoral candidate in psychology.

Her professional career includes art therapy services for individuals and groups of all ages with various life challenges at her clinic, Accès Art. She deeply resonates with Indigenous wisdom and strives to provide culturally sensitive art therapy to Inuit and First Nations adolescents. She offers supervision sessions to creative arts therapists.

She is involved in research projects related to art therapy and depression at at Concordia University. She was the Research Coordinator for the project engAGE Living Lab at the same university, Carmen is fortunate to be part of a dedicated team who collects evidence for public practices in a local mall and to see the community growing. She is also involved in other research

World Art Therapy Conference 2025

If you are unable to attend the free conference or you prefer to watch the presentations at your own pace, simply click the "ENROLL" button ENROLL from below. This home study package will be the only way to obtain continuing education credits, since no learning activity can be tracked during the free conference. The video-presentations will be made available to you immediately after the conference dates and will remain accessible for you for at least two years, along with handouts, articles, etc. You will get a Certificate of completion attesting your CE credits only after watching all the videos and consulting the materials offered in the package.

This third edition of our online conference gathers sound and innovative ideas in art therapy worldwide. The conference has three sections that will treat different aspects of art therapy. The presentations will focus on how arts therapies are informed by new neuroscience theories, on grief work and , and understanding the role of art therapy materials and techniques.

Learning objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
• Describe at least two connection between arts therapies and neuroscientific theories
• Distinguish at least three ways to use these neuroscientific theories in the clinical practive
• Describe at least three ways to work with grief in art therapy
• Analyze the integration of art materials and techniques in the sessions based on expressive arts theries
You will also see each presentation's learning objectives for a more in depth understanding.

Note: The material for the home study conference is dropped on your account progressively, after each week of the conference, respectively the first section will be available at the end of the day on February 9th, the second section at the end of February 16th, and the third one at the end of February 23rd.

PAID HOME STUDY PACKAGE CE CREDITS

This package offers you 45 NBCC Countinuing Education credits for certified counsellors in US and continuing education hours, as per approval by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Other Professional Orders and Associations may accept the accreditation, so please consult with your respective regulatory body.

Creative Therapies Events Inc. has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7468. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Creative Therapies Events Inc. is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

This package will give you 39 hours of continuing education hours, as per approval by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Members of CCPA will receive transcripts at no cost listing all attended events assessed as Continuing Education Credit. Non‐members must attach a cheque for $30.00 payable to CCPA to have CEC’s recorded and to have a transcript issued.

Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc. (ATCB) recognizes an array of Continuing Education Credit activities, inclusive of those pertaining to the spheres of professional and mental health counseling. These specified activities are delineated within the recertification standards, which are disseminated to all Art Therapy Registered-Board Certified (ATR-BC) professionals during their recertification year, as well as being accessible via the official ATCB website. It is mandated that a minimum of six CE credits in the domain of ethics and six CE credits in the domain of supervision or education must be acquired in each certification cycle. Licensees practicing as art therapists within their respective states (in US) are advised to consult with their state boards to ascertain the acceptability of various CE courses for the purpose of license renewal.

Please check with your regulatory body in your country, this home study program may be accepted for CE/CPD credits in European countries, Australia, and Asia.
